There’s this group of people responsible for making sure singers get the most out of their songs, they’re called music producers and David Foster is one of them. Foster has produced music for dozens of the world’s greatest musicians, from Michael Jackson to Celine Dion, Madonna, Seal, Whitney Houston, JLo…and the list goes on. Making the songs of these musicians rock has brought him a lot of recognition with at least 16 Grammy Awards to his name. His contributions to the music industry have also earned him numerous honors, including the Order of British Columbia, as well as places in two or three Hall of Fame platforms. David Walter Foster was born on November 1, 1949 in Victoria, British Columbia, to parents Maurice (Morry) Foster and his wife Eleanor May (Vantreight) Foster. While her mother was a housewife, her father worked as a maintenance site supervisor. Foster has five sisters namely; Jeanie, Maureen, Ruth, Marylou and Jaymes Foster, plus a brother named Jaymes Foster-Levy.
David Foster developed a passion for musical instruments (especially the keyboard) as a child. At age 13, he was accepted into a music program run by the University of Washington. His musical escapade would lead him to meet the famous jazz musician Tommy Banks who placed him under his tutelage and taught him everything there is to know about music.
By 1966, after a year with Banks, Foster had been well equipped and moved to Toronto where he began performing for American singer Chuck Berry. Foster moved to LA in 1974 and became a member of the band Skylark formed in 1971 by one of Ronnie Hawkins’ backup bands. He enjoyed moderate success with the band for a few years before another stint with another short-lived band, Airplay.
By the 80s, David Foster had gained a great reputation in the music industry. He won his first Grammy for writing the lyrics to the song. Earth, Wind and Fire song “After Love is Gone. From this point on, Foster began writing lyrics for the artists he produced, taking control of songwriting and arrangements. His wealth of experience has seen him appear on a number of musical shows, including American Idol, Nashville Star, Celebrity Duos, and Asia’s Got Talent

Spouse and children
David Foster loves his women. The musician has been married and divorced four times and we dare add “and counting”. His last wife, from whom he was divorced in 2017, was Yolanda Hadid. She is the mother of top models. Bela, Gigi and Anwar Hadid.
Foster began her romance with Hadid in 2002. After a long-term relationship, they married on November 11, 2011. They separated on December 1, 2015 and finalized their divorce in May 2017.
Her marriage to Hadid was her fourth. Singer-songwriter BJ Cook was his first wife. In 1973 they had a daughter together named Amy S. Foster – singer-songwriter. With his second wife, Rebecca Dyer, whom he was married from 1982 to 1986, he had three daughters; actress Sara Foster, comedian Erin Foster and the lesser known Jordan Foster.
David Foster married actress Linda Thompson, his third wife, in 1991. Their divorce was finalized in 2005, at a time when Foster was already with Yolanda Hadid.
David Foster has a total of five children (all girls) including a daughter, Allison Jones Foster (his mother is not known to the media) who he had in 1970, when he was 20 years old. He had given up the child for adoption but was reuniting with her when she was 30.

Following his split from Yolanda Hadid, David Foster began dating singer Katharine McPhee. Their relationship has drawn a lot of criticism due to their gigantic age difference. Foster is twice McPhee’s age. The couple got engaged in early 2018, and McPhee immediately planned her wedding. Despite the constant trolling they’ve received, the couple maintain that they understand each other just the way they are.
Foster and McPhee first met in 2006, serving as a mentor on the fifth season of American Idol. Under Foster’s tutelage, McPhee emerged as a runner-up and shot to fame after the show, thanks to her Foster-produced debut single, “Over It.” The couple weren’t romantically involved until later. McPhee was previously married and had other relationships. She was married to Nick Cokas from 2008 to 2016 and they separated in 2013.
