Alice Horton
For decades, Alice was the beating heart of the Horton family and her delicious donuts are still famous in Salem to this day. The grand matriarch survived the Salem Stalker, a cancer misdiagnosis, husband Tom’s foray into poetry and her children’s extensive scandals. Alice who started the Horton tree decorating gathering and though she may have passed away in 2010, Salem will always remember her.
Tom Horton
Dr. Tom Horton was one of Salem’s best, and his marriage to Alice never flagged in all their years together — even when it turned out in 1991 that it was invalid! The two raised five kids together, beginning a sprawling, dysfunctional family that was once the center of Days of Our Lives. Tom passed away in 1995 and Alice never loved another man after.
Thomas ‘Tommy’ Horton Jr.
When Days of Our Lives started, eldest son Tommy was presumed to have perished in the Korean War. He was very much alive, but when he showed up with a new face in 1968, he thought he was a burn victim named Dr. Mark Brooks and almost married his sister, Marie. Yikes! After that was all sorted, Tommy tried reconciling with wife, Kitty, but she had moved on — quite a few times! So, after a whole lot of heartbreak, he moved to Hawaii. Aloha, we guess?
Adelaide ‘Addie’ Horton
Tommy’s twin sister Addie was initially married to Ben Olson, but it wasn’t long before they ran off to Paris, leaving daughter Julie behind for Alice and Tom to raise. They eventually returned, only for Ben to pass away and Addie to fall for Doug. The two eloped and had Hope, though Addie developed leukemia. The good news: It went into remission. The bad news: She was run over by a car and killed.
Mickey Horton
Maggie’s beloved late hubby Mickey had a rough start. His first wife, Laura, became pregnant after little brother Bill raped her, then a bout of amnesia sent him out into the world to meet Maggie. They fell in love, but recovering his memories just led to a psychotic break as he tried to kill Bill. (Years before Uma Thurman!) But once things settled down, Maggie and Mickey built a life together and stuck it out right up until his death!
Marie Horton
Tom and Alice’s youngest daughter Marie never really had much luck in love — but it was one failed relationship in particular that sent her to the nunnery. That, of course, was when she fell in love with and almost married Dr. Brooks… who was actually her long lost brother, Tommy! That’s enough to push anyone to take a vow of celibacy!
Bill Horton
The youngest of Bill and Alice’s kids, Bill wanted Laura, but she was with Mickey, so in a fit of drunken jealousy, he raped her. But after a stint in prison (not for the assault) and Mickey’s amnesia, he and Laura somehow fell in love for real and married. But then he had an affair with Kate Roberts, Laura had a mental breakdown and Bill fled town, never to be seen again. Honestly, good riddance. Speaking of why Bill went to jail…
Kitty Horton
Learning presumed dead husband Tommy was actually alive was a tough pill to swallow — and even tougher since Kitty was in the middle of chasing after another man! Turns out, she’d cheated on Tommy. A lot. They divorced and, needing a new hobby, she blackmailed Bill with the knowledge that Mickey’s son Michael was actually his. But alas, a heart attack while fighting with Bill put him in jail and her in the ground.
Laura Horton
Once upon a time, Salem practically revolved around Laura. Mickey and Bill fought over her, but it was Bill who won out in the end — despite the fact that he (let’s be perfectly clear here) raped her! They married and had two kids (not necessarily in that order) before she tried hanging herself at her dead mother’s insistence, putting her into a catatonic state for nearly two decades. She came back in the ’90s and Laura popped up here and there for years until Gwen accidentally killed her back in 2021. Probably accidentally. Maybe.
Maggie Horton Kiriakis
What can we say about Maggie? She was Mickey’s true love, turning his amnesiac eye away from Laura and forming a bond that endured until his death. Heck, their love was so strong, she was married to Victor for over a decade and we still think of her as Maggie Horton! These days, she’s still one of the backbones of the Horton family along with her “niece” Julie.
Doug Williams
Former conman Doug Williams has been tied to the Hortons since he first popped up after meeting bad seed Bill in jail. He came to Salem intent on getting Susan Martin’s fortune from her, but instead ended up falling for Julie… but marrying her mom Addie! Luckily, as we all know, it worked out in the end — after Addie was struck by a car and killed.
Sandy Horton
Tommy and Kitty’s daughter Sandy struggled with the whole back-from-the-dead amnesiac father thing. But then, who wouldn’t? Things got even rougher for her after catching fiance Evan Whyland cheating and telling Maggie she could just kill him! She was a doctor by then and shortly after that declaration, was forced to operate on Evan. He didn’t make it. Eventually, she was cleared of murder and instead of going off to prison she went off to… wherever soap opera characters go when they fade away.
Steve Olson
Julie’s big brother Steven moved to Paris with mom and dad, Addie and Ben, and stuck it out even after they returned to town. He made his own return in the late ‘70s, only to flee for his life after getting mixed up in drug smuggling and was never heard from again. Maybe he knows where he Sandy is!
Julie Olson
Addie and Ben’s little girl was mostly raised by Alice and Tom after her parents ran off to Europe together. But it took a little while for her to learn their good values, lying, stealing, having a kid with her best friend’s husband (David Martin), and sleeping with her mother’s lover (Doug). Luckily, that last one worked out, and Doug and Julie became caretakers of the Horton home and legacy with Alice’s passing in 2010.
Melissa Horton
Mickey, sadly, couldn’t have kids, so he and Maggie adopted Melissa. She fell in love with and married her kidnapper, Pete Jannings. Despite sharing a lovely double wedding as her parents remarried, the relationship built on a felony didn’t work out and they went their separate ways. Eventually, Melissa packed up little sis Sarah up and moved to Nashville to sing. She came back for the occasional funeral, but that was it.
Michael Horton
Mike was raised to believe he was Mickey’s son, but he was really the result of Bill’s rape of Laura. His track record with women was pretty abysmal and culminated in wife Margo dying of leukemia. Eventually, Mike became a doctor and tussled with Craig and Nancy Wesley for the top spot of the University Hospital before riding off into the sunset with Carrie Brady. They… didn’t work out. These days, Mike practices medicine in New York and we’re pretty sure he’s perfectly happy to stay out of Salem’s drama!
David Banning
The result of Julie’s affair with David Martin, she gave up her son to be raised by Scott Banning. He and mom didn’t always get along, but that’s family. David almost married Valerie Grant in one of daytime’s earliest interracial relationships, but cheating with Trish Clayton (and an intolerant audience) stopped that. His marriage to Trish didn’t work out and after having a son, he moved on with Renee Dumonde. But her attempted murder of Anna convinced him it was time for a divorce and quick escape out of Salem!
Hope Williams
The apple of Doug’s eye with Addie, Hope was sent off to boarding school after her mom’s death, only returning years later as an adult. She almost married Larry Welch before running off with true love Bo Brady to live happily ever after. Give or take a few deaths, amnesia, implanted personalities, doppelgangers… The usual. She and Bo had three kids and their love endured to the point that she’s been off in Europe at Bo’s side ever since his return from the dead/coma. Again, the usual.
Jennifer Horton
Bill and Laura’s daughter Jennifer started out as a rebellious teen before turning to journalism at the Spectator. She fell for her boss, Jack, after he kidnapped her to keep her from marrying Emilio Ramirez. We guess Stockholm Syndrome runs in the family? Jack died off and on for a few years, but in between deaths, they had Abigail and JJ. For a time, they were the Spectator power couple, until Xander and Gwen swiped the paper from them and they left Salem behind.
Jessica Blake
Born Angelique Horton, Jessica had been adopted by Alex Marshall, only to learn he was her biological dad from a fling between him and Marie. Since Marie was about to become a nun, she’d given her baby up. Distraught at the news, Jessica ran off to join a convent. Marie put an end to that, causing a mental breakdown which gave Jessica two extra personalities: Angelique and Angel. Mayhem ensued as the former terrorized Marie and the latter seduced Jake Kositchek, but she eventually recovered, married Joshua Fallon and left Salem’s insanity behind.
Lucas Horton
The result of an affair between Bill and Kate Roberts (which was retconned to be the reason Laura had her mental break), Lucas didn’t grow up with much Horton influence. And once he and Sami got mixed up with each other, Lucas just about lost his mind. Worse, his ever-escalating feud with EJ led to attempted murder and, more recently, kidnapping and holding Sami hostage for months to keep her from reuniting with Stefano’s son. At least prison blues look good on Lucas?
Sarah Horton
Maggie had Sarah as a surrogate before deciding to keep her, eventually winning custody with Mickey. There was some rigamarole about who her bio dad was, but since Neil Curtis wasn’t in her life, it doesn’t matter a whole lot. She spent most of her life in Nashville with big sis Melissa before returning in 2018 as a doctor, getting mixed up with Rex and Eric before falling for Xander. And the rest is history. Give or take some minor major bumps. But hey, now they’re raising a daughter together, so all is well!
Jeremy Horton
Mike’s son with Robin Jacobs (a shooting put an end to their engagement, though not her life), Jeremy popped up in Salem in 2007, supposedly working as a pilot for a private airliner. The airliner turned out to be a front for a DiMera smuggling operation and Jeremy’s brief time in Salem came to an end when he ran off to avoid prosecution!
Shawn-Douglas Brady
Hope and Bo’s son followed his parents into a life of adventure, becoming a Salem cop and building a life with Belle Black. There were a few missteps here and there, the occasional infidelity and constant threat of nutty Jan Spears popping up, but they built a pretty strong family. But then Shawn shot his dad into a coma, cheated on Belle, started drinking himself into oblivion and ran off to rehab somewhere in Europe.
Zack Brady
Bo and Hope’s middle son, Zack, led a tragically short life that was cut short at the age of 6 when Bo’s other daughter Chelsea ran him down in her car. Fortunately, we’ve gotten to see him grow into a fine young man up in heaven over the years, thanks to both parents’ temporary deaths!
Ciara Brady Weston
Who would have thought that Shawn’s little sis Ciara would be the stable one in the family — especially after she married a reformed serial killer?! But after some serious therapy and a tussle with the devil over the soul of their unborn child, she and Ben Weston are not only happily married, they’re sailing around the world with little baby Bo, expecting a second child!
Scotty Banning
Ah, Scotty Banning. What can we say about Scotty Banning? No, seriously, we’re asking. David and Trish’s son popped up a bit at the end of the ‘80s, got mixed up with Eve Donovan, then left town with true love Faith Taylor to attend medical school. We guess he’s out there somewhere practicing medicine but we’re darned if we know where.
Nathan Horton
Like, it seems, half his family, Melissa’s son, Nathan, went into medicine. He stayed with grandma Maggie while doing an internship at University Hospital, bounced between Maggie’s biological granddaughter Melanie and Stephanie Johnson and eventually left for a job in Baltimore. And that was that!
Abigail Deveraux DiMera
Jack and Jennifer’s daughter followed her parents into journalism and eventually settled down with Chad DiMera. Alas, their love was anything but smooth, and Ben Weston kidnapping her was a tipping point. Unlike other members of her family, the hostage taking did not endear him to her, and the trauma led to faked deaths, split personalities, and affairs. Eventually, she and Chad found happiness, only for Clyde Weston to put an end to it when he murdered her.
Nick Fallon
Poor, troubled Nick never really had a chance with a mom like Angel/Angelique/Jessica. He started out well enough, but then became obsessed with Melanie, went to prison after killing her supposed father (Trent Robbins, not Daniel Jonas) and repeated rape fractured what was left of his mind. After getting out, he became obsessed with Gabi, attacked her and was killed twice by her before it took. These days, he’s in Hell, working for the devil. No, that’s not a metaphor.
Eli Grant
David’s relationship with Valerie may have crashed and burned, but one good thing did come out of it: Eli! Julie happily welcomed him to the family when he popped up a few years ago and transferred from the FBI to the Salem PD. He soon fell in love with fellow cop Lani Price, married and had two kids. They then lived happily ever after! Kidding. Lani killed her abusive biological dad, was sent to prison in Maryland and Eli transferred back to the FBI to be with her…
JJ Deveraux
This picture just about sums up Jack Deveraux Jr., or JJ’s life. Jack and Jennifer’s son had two women he loved die, another almost overdose, nearly took his own life after accidentally shooting Theo Carver and has just generally been miserable since he showed up. Is it any wonder he’s left Salem behind at this point?
Will Horton
By the time Sami and Lucas’ firstborn realized he was gay and started a relationship with Sonny, he’d already gotten Gabi Hernandez pregnant. He was murdered by the Necktie Killer at one point, but you know how these things go in Salem. It didn’t take. These days, he’s off in New Zealand with hubby Sonny and daughter Arianna following his dreams and making movies.
Allie Horton
Johnny DiMera and his twin sister have a lot in common — including having fallen for the same woman! One thing they don’t share? A dad. Despite being conceived and born at the same time, Johnny’s dad is EJ, while Allie’s is Lucas. She was living the dream as co-owner of Sweet Bits bakery for a time with her love, Chanel, but once they fell apart, Allie left for New Zealand with big brother Will and son Henry and hasn’t looked back.
Claire Brady
Shawn and Belle’s daughter, Claire has had her share of ups and downs — not to mention a mental break or two and a few attempted murders when she tried burning aunt Ciara alive, framing Ben for it and taking herself and Tripp out in a murder/suicide. Don’t worry, she got help and came back to town better then ever. And then left shortly after.
Arianna Horton
Will and Gabi’s daughter has lived one heck of an interesting life in her short years. In the beginning, Gabi moved in with Will and Sonny to raise the kid in a three-parent house. Then Gabi went to prison and Sonny and Will raised her alone. Next, Will “died” and Sonny ran off. Since then, she’s bounced between parents, but mostly, Sonny and Will seem to take care of her. In fact, when they moved to New Zealand, she chose to go with them — which is a good thing since Gabi landed in prison again shortly after!
Thomas DiMera
Abigail conceived her and Chad’s firstborn while she was dating Ben Weston. (Back before everyone knew he was a serial killer, obviously.) For a time, she thought, little Thomas was Bens, thanks to Clyde switching paternity results around, but nope, he was Chad’s!
Charlotte DiMera
Chad and Abigail’s second kid had one of the least dramatic births in the family, other than the fact that her parents weren’t married at the time. But that’s perfectly normal, especially after all they’d been through and the happy couple rectified that just four months after Charlotte’s birth!
Henry Horton
We don’t get to see little Henry too much, especially now that he’s off in New Zealand with his mom Allie. Sadly, he’s the result of her rape at the hands of Ava’s dead, psycho son Charlie, but with a mom as loving as Allie, we have no doubt he’ll grow up to be stable and well-adjusted. Well, at least as far as anyone can be in the Horton family.
Jules and Carver Grant
Adorable twins named for their godparents, Julie Williams and Abe Carver, Jules and Carver are Eli and Lani’s kids. And that makes them Tom and Alice’s… great-great-great-grandchildren! They’ve already been kidnapped by Vivian Alamain in their short lives, so welcome to the family, kids!
Bo Weston
Few births were as dramatic as Ben and Ciara’s son — and in Salem, that’s saying a lot. After months of running around causing havoc in Salem, Satan made his play for the tot, intent on being reincarnated in a permanent body and bringing about literal Hell on Earth. But thanks to some heavenly intervention from grandpa Bo, Satan was driven off, baby Bo was born safely and Ben and Ciara are happily sailing around the world with their son.
Victoria Horton
The newest member of the family, Xander and Sarah’s daughter was actually named after the head of the Kirakis clan, Victor. But even after Xander learns that Victor was his father, we doubt that side will ever have family ties nearly as close as the Hortons. Besides, little Victoria already got her Christmas ornament!
