Fake it until you make it? In the case of convincing the internet you have a surgically-constructed third breast, maybe that’s not the best strategy.

Florida resident, Jasmine Tridevil, pretty much took over the internet this week doing just that: claiming she paid $20,000 for surgery to plant a third boob in the middle of her chest in order to ward off the advances of men and maybe score a reality show on MTV. Turns out, it may have been a weird, elaborate hoax. Here’s everything you need to know about Tridevil and her alleged three boobs.

Exhibit A
Tridevil told Real Radio 104.1 that she bought the extra endowment because she was over the dating scene.

“I got it because I wanted to make myself unattractive to men,” Tridevil said. “I don’t wanna date anymore.”
Hold on while I count the number of guys I know who aren’t into boobs. Zero. Sure, the weirdness factor is probably a turn off to some, but if Tridevil actually thought having three breasts was going to make her unattractive to men, it’s just proof that she’s completely nuts. We’re calling foul.
Exhibit B
Tridevil said in the same interview that finding a surgeon crazy enough to perform the procedure was a real challenge.
“They did have an issue with it and it was really hard finding somebody who would do it. Because they’re breaking the code of ethics to do it,” she explained. “That’s why he made me sign a non-disclosure agreement because he’s afraid he could get in trouble. But I called like 50 or 60 doctors, nobody wanted to do it.”
The fact that Tridevil couldn’t reveal any details about her surgery or the doctor who supposedly did it is another red flag.

Exhibit C
Snopes, everyone’s go-to internet fact-checker, took on the Tridevil story Wednesday and their findings were pretty suspect. According to their investigation, there are no third-party photos or videos of Jasmine Tridevil — everything we’ve seen comes from her personal social media accounts. Even more suspicious, though, is that JasmineTridevil.com is registered to a Tampa, Florida, woman named Alisha Hessler, who made headlines in 2013 for tricking local news media into believing she had forced a man who attacked her to stand on a street corner in a dunce cap, holding a sign that said “I beat women.” When police tried to contact Hessler for more details about the attack, she stopped returning their calls.
Exhibit D
The most damning evidence so far comes from E! News, who reported today that Hessler, the woman who looks suspiciously like Tridevil and owns her web domain, recently had her baggage stolen at the Tampa International Airport. The site claims to have an incident report that lists the contents of the stolen luggage, including a “3 breast prosthesis.”
So, things aren’t looking so great for that reality show Tridevil was banking on. But hey, at least she managed to pull a fast one on the entire internet. That counts for something, right?
