Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin had reportedly planned to cut their son, Kyle Navin, from their wills but hadn't done so by the time of their murders, the Forum said. The Navins were longtime Weston residents who had sold their home and moved to Easton just months before they were slain.

A review of the wills by Probate Court Judge T.R. Rowe, found Kyle Navin and his brother, Taylor Navin, were listed as the beneficiaries of their parents' estate, according to the report. The full value of the estate remains uncertain. 

According to the report, Connecticut state law prohibits someone convicted of murdering another person from being a beneficiary of the victim's will.

Kyle Navin was charged in the deaths of his parents, Jeffrey, 56, and Jeanette, 55, on Nov. 3, five days after their bodies were recovered in the yard of a Norfield Road home and nearly three months after they were first reported missing. 

His girlfriend, Jennifer Valiante, 31, has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the case.

According to the Forum, Kyle Navin and Taylor Navin, 24, both attended Weston public schools and played hockey on the Wreckers team.

The younger brother, who was on the Weston High School team that won the Division 3 State Golf Championship, went to college in Mississippi and is now a golf pro there, the Forum said.

Kyle Navin worked for his father at the family’s sanitation company, J&J Refuse in Westport. His mother, who also worked for the family business, was a longtime paraprofessional the Weston schools.
