"I wish we could still be stupid together," Desiree Rose said after hearing about her friend Kyle Bezio's death. "I can't even believe it."
Bezio died after he was struck by a car on Route 202 near 150 Daniel Shays Highway just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, as previously reported by Daily Voice.
The driver, a 20-year-old Athol resident, and passenger got out to help Bezio before he was taken to Athol hospital where he later died, the Northwestern District Attorney's Office reports. Bezio's death sent shockwaves among his immediate community.
"I started out writing something sappy but I kept hearing Kyle asking me why I'm being a b---h so instead an appreciation post for my brother and best friend," Kyle's brother Jon said on Facebook. Rest in Peace you beautiful son of a b---h! I love and miss you."
"Kyle Bezio always had a smile and a hug for me when I saw him. I thought of him as a real sweetheart," Mary Hakkinen said on Facebook. "His death has left a huge hole in the hearts of many. RIP my young friend, you were certainly loved, and will certainly be missed."
The driver of involved in the crash has not been charged, the DA's Office added. The investigation is ongoing.
